Job description

A Kitchen Helper's job involvesassisting with various tasks to support the kitchen staff and maintain a clean and organized work environment.This includes tasks such as food preparation, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and ensuring proper food storage.They may also be involved in receiving and unpacking food deliveries.

Responsibilities

Must have or able to obtain a food handlers permit

Food Preparation:

  • Washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
  • Assembling dishes and preparing sauces.
  • Mixing ingredients for salads.
  • Portioning and wrapping food items.
  • Assisting with basic food preparation tasks like chopping, peeling, and slicing ingredients.
  • Reading recipes and following instructions.
  • Checking for food supplies needed and communicating if items are not available.

Cleaning and Sanitation:

  • Washing and drying dishes and utensils.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Mop and sweep the kitchen floor.
  • Emptying trash bins and replacing garbage bags.
  • Cleaning counters and floors.
  • Wiping down kitchen surfaces using proper sanitizers.

Other Duties:

  • Stocking and organizing kitchen supplies and ingredients.
  • Receiving and storing deliveries.
  • Operating kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, etc.).
  • Assisting with food service (e.g., filling condiment bottles).
  • Collaborating with chefs and cooks to ensure a seamless flow of kitchen operations.
  • Adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the kitchen management team.
  • Taking out trash and recycling from the kitchen area.
  • Helping cooks prepare meals by washing, cutting, peeling, and slicing ingredients.
Qualifications

Must have food handlers permit or obtain one within 1st week of hire date

Must pass criminal background check including obtaining access to military bases/instalations

Commercial kitchen knowledge a plus
