Job summary

Earthbound LLC in the Flatiron District, NYC, seeks a hands-on industrial designer focused on hard kitchen products for Walmart private label. You will be the primary designer, balancing in-house creation with supplier co-creation, 50/50, under the Design Director, collaborating with Product Development in Bentonville and Walmart teams.

This role requires knowledge of materials and mass-market production, strong presentation skills, and travel to Bentonville and factories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Ceramics, Surface or Textile Design, or a related field.
• 4-7 years of professional experience designing hard kitchen or housewares products produced for retail.
• Hands-on experience in tabletop, food storage and/or decorative kitchenware.
• Knowledge of hard kitchen materials and processes and food-contact safety for mass-market retail.
• Experience collaborating with suppliers or overseas factories is a plus.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; PowerPoint for presentations; 3D modeling/rendering in Rhino, SolidWorks or KeyShot.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Bentonville and supplier/trade shows.

Responsibilities

• Design original product for hard kitchen categories from concept through production-ready artwork.
• Co-create with suppliers: guide materials, processes and design intent while meeting cost targets.
• Review supplier submissions with feedback on form, color, decoration, materials and function.
• Partner with Product Development in Bentonville to align category needs and timelines.
• Present concepts and collections in Walmart alignment meetings with clarity and confidence.
• Troubleshoot design issues balancing brand intent, cost, manufacturing, and packaging needs.
• Coordinate with kitchen textiles to maintain brand continuity across Walmart private label home brands.
• Build trend boards, line plans, spec sheets and presentation decks.
