Job summary

Pura Vida Miami is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced, full-service environment. You will oversee staff, ensure quality, safety, and on-time service, and drive training and development across the team.

Responsibilities include coordinating with managers in training, maintaining health and safety compliance, and implementing policies to uphold consistent menu standards. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-6 years of experience in a food production facility, fast-paced restaurant or full dining service.
• Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus.
• Food Handler certification or local/municipal requirements may be required.
• Experience in training and developing kitchen staff.
• Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations in a kitchen setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all kitchen operations and work closely with Assistant Kitchen Managers and Managers in Training (MITs).
• Supervise and provide clear communication regarding job responsibilities and performance expectations to kitchen personnel.
• Foster a culture of quality and consistency within the kitchen team, ensuring all menu items meet standards.
• Provide comprehensive training to kitchen staff on prep work and food presentation techniques.
• Responsible for selection, onboarding and retention of team members through motivation, recognition, coaching and development.
• Delegate and follow up on tasks while remaining accountable for kitchen and team members.
• Offer clear direction to kitchen staff, ensuring effective execution of all assigned tasks.
• Maintain oversight of kitchen operations to ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local food handling regulations and company safety protocols.
• Emphasize safety, sanitation and security awareness, and ensure proper training for a safe work environment
• Contribute to development and enforcement of kitchen and restaurant policies and procedures.
• Step in to fulfill line cook responsibilities when required.
