Kitchen Manager (Food Services)


Our newest store located in Sayville is seeking a FT Kitchen Manager for its anticipated busy operations! Our Kitchen Managers supervise kitchen duties by managing the pantry, inventory, controlling how food is stored and prepared, and supervising customer service. A successful Kitchen Manager in our gourmet grocery's kitchen supervises and guides staff to deliver quality, handcrafted food and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure all food items and products are stored, prepared, and served according to the restaurant's recipes, preparation standards, and portion control.
  2. Evaluate and discipline kitchen personnel as needed, and make employment decisions.
  3. Order kitchen materials and ingredients based on the menu and market demand.
  4. Supervise food preparation and ensure customer satisfaction.
  5. Maintain clean working environments and ensure staff follow preventive maintenance procedures.
  6. Maintain adequate inventory levels and conduct weekly stock counts.
  7. Collaborate with department managers to create menu items, set pricing, and establish portion sizes.
  8. Schedule shifts considering business hours, days, and special occasions.
  9. Oversee employee training on safe operation of kitchen equipment, handling of heavy items, and hazardous materials.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Food Safety
  • Oversee food quality, inventory, supply, and QA processes.
  • Ensure food safety and security standards are consistently met.
  • Store food products in compliance with safety practices.
  • Manage and maintain food safety standards at all times.
Requirements
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Ability to work a varying schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Self-motivated with leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Food Safety Certification.
Working Conditions

Most time is spent moving on hard surfaces, with frequent bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds, or more with assistance. Work environment includes moving machinery and loud equipment, with exposure to temperature extremes and cleaning agents. Safety precautions are necessary when handling sharp objects and industrial equipment.
