Assistant Kitchen Manager (Food Services)

We are actively seeking to add a Full-Time Assistant Kitchen Manager to our Sayville Store. This is a key position within our kitchen, working directly with back-of-the-house staff.

The Assistant Kitchen Manager assists with supervising kitchen staff, managing the pantry, inventory, food storage, preparation, and customer service. A successful candidate supervises and guides staff to deliver quality, timely food and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure all food items and products are stored, prepared, and served according to recipes, standards, and portion sizes.
2. Evaluate and discipline kitchen personnel, making employment decisions as needed.
3. Order kitchen materials and ingredients based on menu and market demand.
4. Supervise food preparation, maintaining customer satisfaction.
5. Maintain cleanliness and ensure adherence to preventive maintenance measures.
6. Maintain adequate inventory levels and conduct weekly inventories.
7. Collaborate with department managers on menu creation, pricing, and portion sizes.
8. Schedule shifts based on business needs.
9. Oversee employee training on kitchen equipment, utensils, and safety procedures.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a restaurant/back-of-house environment.
• Strong understanding of administrative duties and functions.
• Experience in training and mentoring kitchen staff.
• Excellent communication and supervisory skills.
• High motivation and ability to think quickly.
