Retail Store - Food Service

Description

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the overall operations of the back of house and kitchen area.
  2. Purchase food and stock supplies.
  3. Provide professional leadership and direction to kitchen personnel.
  4. Ensure all staff are trained on proper food preparation and kitchen safety techniques.
  5. Maintain company standards for food presentation, proper cooking, correct proportions, and timely service.
  6. Ensure the kitchen is properly cleaned on a regular schedule.
  7. Ensure proper disposal of food and compliance with sanitary standards.
  8. Monitor food costs, waste, and employee hours to optimize profits and enhance customer dining experience.
  9. Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean kitchen environment.
  10. Assist with menu planning, including daily chef specials.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Any combination of experience and skills equivalent to the following:

  1. Previous experience in back of house and kitchen operations.
  2. Proficiency in cooking techniques for cold and hot food preparation.
  3. Knowledge of health codes applicable to food service.
  4. Proper food storage, rotation, and cleaning techniques.
  5. Use of commercial kitchen equipment.
  6. Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Effective communication skills to convey standards and cooking methods clearly to staff, and to give and receive orders.
  8. Attention to detail regarding food standards, costs, and safety.
  9. Ability to read and understand recipes in English; verbal proficiency in English; basic reading and writing skills.
  10. Work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Effective communication with supervisors and co-workers.
  12. Maintain a clean and safe environment for coworkers and customers.
  13. Comply with company standards and directives.
  14. Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours).
  15. Ability to push, carry, and lift large equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds, multiple times daily.
  16. Use carts and dollies to transport products.
  17. Bend, stoop, and kneel to retrieve items.
  18. Extend arms overhead to reach for products and boxes.
  19. Work in various conditions, including wet, dry, hot, and cold environments.
  20. Perform multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  21. Adhere to health code requirements.
