Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Virginia Beach, VA, is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare meals per approved menus, while considering residents’ dietary needs and transient preferences. You will supervise dietary staff in the Dining Services Director’s absence and ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Responsibilities include following recipes, maintaining sanitation, monitoring temperatures, and aiding in staff training.

Qualifications

• Serv-Safe certified or willing to complete certification within 60 days.
• Ability to read, write and perform simple calculations.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present meals according to approved menus and recipes.
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of Dining Services Director.
• Maintain a clean, orderly kitchen and work area at all times.
• Monitor temperatures; record food temps 3 times daily.
• Ensure proper cooling, storage, labeling and dating of leftovers.
• Assist in training new dietary employees and attend in-service trainings.
