Job description

BOH Director

At Chick-fil-A, the BOH Director is a hands-on operational leader responsible for leading shifts, developing people, and driving overall Back of House performance. This role is not simply a support position—the BOH Director is accountable for ensuring the restaurant operates safely, efficiently, and consistently while maintaining high standards of food quality, speed, cleanliness, hospitality, and team performance.

The BOH Director will lead restaurant shifts from start to finish, including being responsible for opening and closing the restaurant. They set the tone for the team, provide direction throughout the shift, address operational challenges in real time, and hold Team Members and leaders accountable to expectations.

At the same time, this is a hands-on leadership role. BOH Directors are expected to work alongside the team in day-to-day line operations, including production, food preparation, quality control, cleanliness, and other operational responsibilities. The expectation is to lead from the front—not manage from the sidelines.

The ideal candidate consistently demonstrates Chick-fil-A's core values, embraces the Chick-fil-A culture, and has a servant's heart. They have a passion for people, strong character, take initiative, work with urgency, and understand that great restaurant performance starts with great leadership.

Compensation

$55,000–$63,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

This is a leadership position with significant responsibility for restaurant operations, team performance, and shift execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily restaurant shifts and provide clear direction to the team.
  • Own and oversee restaurant openings and closings, ensuring all required procedures and standards are completed correctly.
  • Take overall responsibility for Back of House operational performance during assigned shifts.
  • Work hands-on in day-to-day line operations alongside Team Members.
  • Ensure food quality, safety, cleanliness, speed, and operational standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor and manage shift performance, identifying problems and taking immediate action to resolve them.
  • Hold Team Members accountable for performance, behaviors, and operational standards.
  • Coach, train, and develop Team Members and emerging leaders.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership regarding operational performance, staffing, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Help create a positive, high-accountability team culture.
  • Complete administrative and operational tasks necessary to keep the restaurant running effectively.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate the work ethic, urgency, professionalism, and servant leadership expected from the team.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling based on the operational needs of the restaurant.
What We're Looking For
  • A natural leader who is comfortable taking ownership of a shift and directing a team.
  • Someone who can confidently make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to manage Team Member behavioral and performance issues professionally and consistently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with shared ownership and responsibility.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on in restaurant operations.
  • Previous experience as a Shift Lead, Crew Lead, Supervisor, Team Lead, Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager, or similar leadership role is preferred, but not required.
