Job summary

The Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City, SD, is seeking an entry-level Cook to join our historic hotel culinary team. You will assist with stocking, prep, cooking main dishes and desserts, and work with servers to ensure timely orders while maintaining kitchen hygiene.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and 2+ years cooking experience; ServSafe is a plus. We offer benefits, training across outlets, and employee perks within the Hilton Honors program.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with stocking and setting up kitchen stations.
• Prepare food, clean and cut ingredients, cook main dishes and desserts.
• Plate dishes according to senior chef’s guidance.
• Coordinate with servers to ensure timely order fulfillment.
• Wash, clean, and store kitchen tools and maintain hygiene.

QualificationsResponsibilities

• Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
• Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks
• Plating prepared foods based on senior chef’s guidance
• Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
• Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
• Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required
• 2+ years' experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry
• Able to read and follow standardized recipes
• Strong knowledge of proper food handling proceduresAble to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere
• ServeSafe Certification preferred

Skills

• Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Cooks to prepare meals during our dining hours
• Maintain accurate food inventories
• Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
• Rotate stock items as per established procedures
• Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
• Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift
