Job summary

Liv Hospitality at The Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City, SD invites you to join our culinary team as a Cook. Stock and set up kitchen stations, prepare items from starters to desserts, plate meals under senior chef guidance, and collaborate with servers to deliver orders on time in a busy, historic downtown property.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years of cook experience; ServeSafe is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations.
• Preparing food including cleaning and cutting ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks.
• Plating prepared foods based on senior chef’s guidance.
• Working with servers to ensure orders are completed according to request and on time.
• Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts.
• Ensuring that kitchen procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards.

• Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
• Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
• Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED required
• 2+ years' experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry
• Able to read and follow standardized recipes
• Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
• Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere
• ServeSafe Certification preferred

Skills

• Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Cooks to prepare meals during our dining hours
• Maintain accurate food inventories
• Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
• Rotate stock items as per established procedures
• Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
• Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift
