Job description

The Kitchen Assistant supports the Kitchen Supervisor in managing daily food service operations, ensuring consistent meal preparation, adherence to food safety regulations, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. This role assists with meal planning, inventory management, and daily kitchen procedures. The Kitchen Assistant provides guidance to kitchen staff in the absence of the supervisor and supports a smooth and collaborative kitchen environment. This position requires you to work every weekend.Experience and Educational RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED required.1–3 years of experience in food services or a related field preferred.ServSafe certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements, if operating a company vehicle.Must have a successful background check.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesBasic computer skills, including email communication.Strong understanding of food preparation, handling, and safety protocols.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Effective verbal and written communication.Environment & Physical DemandsModerate noise level in a kitchen environment.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of supplies and food items.Use of hands for food preparation and operation of kitchen equipment.Exposure to hot surfaces, food hazards, and kitchen machinery.Must be able to lift 25 lbs and up to 70 lbs with assistance.Ability to work in high-stress environments, requiring emotional resilience and adherence to self-care practices.
