Job summary

Agincare is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our health and social care team. This part-time role supports the chef, helps prepare balanced meals, and ensures dietary requirements and allergens are understood.

You will maintain kitchen cleanliness per COSHH and health and safety standards, work Saturdays and Sundays, and join a friendly team committed to residents' wellbeing. No prior care experience required; food safety knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months right to work in the UK.
• Previous kitchen experience is essential.
• Part-time, 15 hours/week, Saturdays/Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the chef to prepare healthy meals and understand dietary requirements/allergens.
• Maintain high kitchen hygiene per COSHH and health and safety protocols.
• Work as part of a team, and also lone-work when needed, managing time effectively.
• Engage with residents and provide support.

What is required from you?

• A minimum of 12 months on your right to work in the UK
• Previous experience in a kitchen setting is essential
• This is a part time position, working 15 hours per week – this will be working every Saturday and Sunday

A day in the life of a Kitchen Assistant

• Support the chef to create healthy/balanced meals and snacks, and ensuring a good understanding of various dietary requirements and allergens
• Ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the kitchen area, with good levels of hygiene particularly in line with COSHH regulations and health and safety protocols.
• Work as a team player, but have the ability to lone work when needed, effectively managing your time.
• Offer support, communication and engagement to the residents.

About You

You don't have to have worked in care before, a previous role in a different catering environment is great for someone willing to learn. We'd like you to have some prior knowledge of food safety and COSHH. You will be a caring, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who is able to show empathy to the needs of others.
