Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a Class Size Teacher to manage instructional planning and progress for assigned pupils in Priority Schools. Under principal supervision, you will deliver instruction, maintain records, and support a positive learning environment.

You will implement instructional methods aligned with state standards, engage in professional development, and collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student achievement and attendance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of subject matter and state certification requirements.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs; apply learning theory principles.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare written lesson plans and maintain accurate records of pupil achievement.
• Apply instructional methods and develop new teaching techniques; use varied materials.
• Establish classroom rules and maintain discipline per CPS policy.
• Monitor attendance; promote student attendance and anti-vandalism programs.
• Confer with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in in-service and staff meetings; coordinate field trips and after-school activities.
