Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a Class Size Teacher to manage instruction, progress, and discipline within assigned classrooms. Under principal oversight, you will plan lessons, assess student progress, and maintain records while aligning with CPS policies and the Uniform Discipline Code.

You will implement instructional methods, cultivate a positive learning environment, and communicate with families about student performance.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Must possess at least one valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education: Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).

Responsibilities

• Develop written lesson plans aligned with instructional programs and establish positive learning environment standards.
• Implement instructional methods using available materials and contribute to new teaching techniques.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts.
• Communicate with parents about students' progress, attendance, and conduct.
• Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff meetings and use provided materials.
• May coordinate and attend class field trips and after-school activities.
• Promote student attendance and anti-vandalism programs.
• Utilize community resources to support instruction.
