Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Class Size Teacher to address oversized classrooms in Priority Schools. Under the principal's supervision, you will instruct, monitor progress, discipline students, plan lessons, and maintain accurate records in alignment with CPS standards.

The position requires completion of student teaching and the appropriate Illinois teaching certificate(s). Licenses may include PEL or ELS, and collaboration with families and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and course work required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• License requirements include a Professional Educator License (PEL) or an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Knowledge of state certification requirements and effective classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Develop written lesson plans and prepare materials following instructional objectives.
• Establish positive classroom environment and maintain attendance and records.
• Apply instructional methods and adapt to student needs with diverse learners.
• Communicate with parents about student progress and conduct.
• Participate in in-service and professional meetings and field trips as needed.
