Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking a Class Size Teacher to address oversized classrooms in Priority Schools under the supervision of the principal. You will be responsible for instructional planning, progress monitoring, and maintaining accurate records of student achievements.

Responsibilities include applying current teaching methodologies, using diverse instructional materials, and maintaining positive classroom environments.

Qualifications

• Certificate coursework required by Illinois State Board of Education to obtain teaching certificate(s).
• Valid licenses include Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).
• Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs and manage classroom behavior.
• Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons with written lesson plans and record-keeping of student progress.
• Apply instructional methods and diverse materials, develop new teaching techniques.
• Maintain attendance records and establish classroom discipline per CPS policies.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and conduct.
• Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff meetings.
• May coordinate field trips and after-school activities.
