Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Class Size Teacher to manage instruction, progress, and discipline for students in assigned classrooms. Under principal supervision, you will implement lesson plans, track progress, and support an engaging learning environment in Priority Schools and other affected schools.

You will coordinate with parents, attend in-service meetings, and may participate in field trips or after-school activities while adhering to CPS Uniform Discipline Code and residency

Qualifications

• Education requirements include successful completion of student teaching and coursework to obtain an Illinois teaching certificate.
• License requirements include a Professional Educator License (PEL) or an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities cover state certification, teaching methods, classroom management, and professional judgment.

Responsibilities

• Develop written lesson plans and maintain records of student progress.
• Apply instructional methods and materials to support diverse learners.
• Maintain classroom discipline and establish conducive learning environments.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about progress and attendance.
• Participate in staff trainings and school activities as needed.
