Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Class Size Teacher to manage instruction, progress, and discipline in Priority Schools. Under the principal, you will plan lessons, monitor attendance, and maintain student records.

You will apply modern teaching methods, use available materials, and collaborate with staff to implement new techniques. You may coordinate field trips and participate in after-school activities.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching and coursework to obtain ISBE teaching certificates.
• Possession of a Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).

Responsibilities

• Provide written lesson plans and maintain records of pupil progress.
• Apply teaching methods and develop new techniques reflecting current practice.
• Exhibit knowledge of curriculum and manage classroom behavior effectively.
• Communicate with parents about student progress and attendance.
• Coordinate and attend class field trips and participate in after-school activities.
• Maintain attendance records and ensure fair, respectful pupil interactions.
