Job summary

Michaels in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking an energetic Event Coordinator to plan and deliver exciting in-store events, including children's birthday parties. You will help customers shop, run activities, and ensure a friendly checkout while coordinating with store teams.

This role involves coordinating multiple events, guiding participants, managing add-ons, and maintaining safety and cleanliness, with opportunities to engage guests of all ages and support the store's brand promises.

Qualifications

• Retail and/or customer service experience required.
• Must have excellent people skills.
• Must have experience working with children and children's events.
• Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills.
• Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including childrens birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
• Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
• Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
• Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
• Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
• Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
• Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions during Customer Experience tasks.
• Provide fast and friendly checkout experience and explain Rewards and Private Label Credit Card enrollments.
