Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools seeks a Substitute Teacher for Grades K-5 to provide instruction when the teacher of record is absent and maintain classroom operations. The role requires completing the GCPS substitute training or possessing a teaching certificate or eligibility.

An associate degree or 60 semester hours is required, with transcripts provided. Preferred candidates have prior classroom or substitute teaching experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
• Knowledge of child development.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, central office staff, school based staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
• Knowledge of office and media equipment.
• Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction for the teacher of record in their absence.
• Maintain classroom management for the teacher of record.
• Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance and cooperate with staff.
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school/county personnel.
• Follow district policies and maintain records and IEP requirements.
