Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a substitute teacher to provide classroom instruction and maintain order in the absence of the teacher of record.

The role requires knowledge of curriculum, sound communication with staff and parents, and the ability to implement lesson plans prepared by the teacher of record. Candidates should meet PSC education requirements and complete GCPS training promptly.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 credit hours from PSC-approved institution.
• Transcripts from each college or university attended.
• Must complete GCPS Substitute Teacher Training within 30 days or possess a valid/expired teaching certificate or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction and maintain classroom management in the absence of the teacher of record.
• Provide classroom instruction for the teacher of record. Conduct supervised small groups of individualized activities based on lesson plans.
• Maintain classroom management and conduct behavior management strategies; organize learning environment and encourage positive student engagement.
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and other school and county personnel; follow teachers guidelines for communication.
• Demonstrate professional conduct; maintain records and follow school policies; support special education and compliance requirements.
