Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking qualified substitutes to provide instruction in the absence of the teacher of record. The role requires completing the Substitute Teacher Training Program within 30 days of hire or possessing an eligible teaching certificate, and a PSC-approved credential or student teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
• Knowledge of child development.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, central office staff, school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of office and media equipment.
• Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions in the English language.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction in the absence of the teacher of record.
• Conduct supervised small groups based on lesson plans by the teacher of record.
• Maintain classroom management and follow behavior intervention plans.
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school/county staff.
• Assist with professional responsibilities as requested by the teacher of record.
• Comply with district policies and state regulations; follow IEP requirements where applicable.
