Job summary

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina Teacher Licensure.
• Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience.
• Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in Education preferred.
• Proficient technology skills.
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
• Strong instructional skills inclusive of oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, oversight, and guidance for K-5 Mathematics.
• Supports communication, coordination, planning, implementation, and monitoring of math programs across the district.
• Ensures alignment of curriculum, instruction, intervention, and assessment within the HCS Math Framework and NC State Standards.
• Manages the development of curriculum and instruction for Math.
• Aligns work to the district's framework and priorities for effective Math instruction for all students.
• Leads development of universally designed tools and resources aligned to the NC State Standards and college readiness.
• Collaborates to embed technology into effective math practices.
• Collaborates and communicates across departments to develop and deliver professional development opportunities.
• Manages and supports the implementation of coherent curriculum and instruction that creates a clear pathway for success for all students.
• Manages and supports the implementation of research-based, culturally and linguistically responsive practices.
• Coordinates with academic coaches in meetings and professional development.
• Develops, oversees and supports all stakeholders with the implementation of NC State Standards in Mathematics.
• Manages and supports the adoption and vetting of high-quality instructional and intervention materials K-5 for all students, including those in bilingual programs.
• Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, technology, and materials.
• Collaborates and communicate across departments to facilitate and support math development and ensure alignment and coherence.
• Serves on district level cross-functional teams as appropriate.
• Performs all other duties as assigned
