Job Description
Title: K-5 Math Curriculum Coordinator
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction K-5
Terms of Employment: Full-Time
Salary: NC State Salary Schedule
FLSA Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt
Qualifications:
- Current North Carolina Teacher Licensure
- Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in Education preferred
- Proficient technology skills
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills
- Strong instructional skills inclusive of oral and written communication
Supervises:
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides leadership, oversight, and guidance for K-5 Mathematics
- Supports the communication, coordination, planning, implementation, and monitoring of math programs across the district
- Ensures alignment of curriculum, instruction, intervention, and assessment within the HCS Math Framework and NC State Standards
- Manages the development of curriculum and instruction for Math
- Aligns work to the district's framework and priorities for effective Math instruction for all students
- Leads development of universally designed tools and resources aligned to the NC State Standards and college readiness
- Collaborates to embed technology into effective math practices
- Collaborates and communicates across departments to develop and deliver professional development opportunities
- Manages and supports the implementation of coherent curriculum and instruction that creates a clear pathway for success for all students
- Manages and supports the implementation of research-based, culturally and linguistically responsive practices
- Coordinates with academic coaches in meetings and professional development
- Develops, oversees and supports all stakeholders with the implementation of NC State Standards in Mathematics
- Manages and supports the adoption and vetting of high-quality instructional and intervention materials K-5 for all students, including those in bilingual programs
- Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, technology, and materials
- Collaborates and communicate across departments to facilitate and support math development and ensure alignment and coherence
- Serves on district level cross-functional teams as appropriate
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the K-5 Math Coordinator job classification within Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
- Operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, SmartBoard, and data projectors
- Gather, convey and exchange information
- Communicate effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing
- Use tact and courtesy when working and dealing with the community
- Read, comprehend, and prepare various kinds of communication and information including emails, correspondence, reports, articles, proposals, contracts, policies, charts, spreadsheets, curriculum documents, staff development plans, educational forms and data
- Write using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
- Speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
- Apply principles of logical, critical, creative or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Demonstrate and apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and to make simple decisions
- Interpret, infer, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate materials, resources, situations, and problems to generate options and solutions
- Interpret and carry out oral and/or written instructions
- Demonstrate continued professional curiosity and growth
