Job summary

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is seeking a Literacy Coach for K-3 students at various Savannah locations. The role emphasizes instructional leadership, evidence-based coaching cycles, modeling, professional learning, and co-planning to elevate reading outcomes.

The coach works with principals and district leadership to target school needs, schedule support, and provide technical assistance; 190 work days, salary CH, and goal to strengthen science of reading implementation.

Qualifications

• Valid Georgia professional certificate (GaPSC), excluding provisional, nonrenewable, or strategic waiver certificates.
• Minimum of five (5) years of classroom or literacy intervention experience (K-3).
• Knowledge of scientifically based reading research and data analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Advanced preparation in Reading/Literacy through a Dyslexia Endorsement or equivalent program.

Responsibilities

• Coach educators using evidence-based practices; provide feedback and classroom support.
• Collaborate with the principal to create a strategic literacy coaching plan.
• Spend at least 70% of the day in classrooms with students and teachers.
• Analyze student data to inform instruction within MTSS.
• Align coaching with district literacy plan and state standards.
