Job summary

Mastery Schools is hiring an Assistant Director of K-3 Literacy to ensure students build foundational literacy skills and critical thinking through evidence-based practices grounded in the Science of Reading. You will partner with K-2 and 3-8 teams to align instruction, assessment, and interventions across grades, supporting a coherent literacy continuum.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of early literacy and evidence-based instructional practices.
• Experience coaching teachers and leading curriculum development.
• Strong ability to analyze student data to inform instruction.
• Experience implementing Science of Reading aligned practices.
• Experience improving literacy outcomes in under-resourced communities.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of Tier 1 literacy instruction through coaching, observation, modeling, feedback, and PD.
• Strengthen K-3 MTSS, including instruction, interventions, progress monitoring, and planning.
• Analyze data to identify trends and inform school and network priorities.
• Design professional learning to improve teacher and leader practice.
• Develop resources and guidance to support curriculum implementation.
