Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a K-3 teacher assistant to provide instructional support under the supervision of a teacher or principal. The TA will work in classrooms, assist with small groups, reinforce learning, monitor progress, and help with clerical tasks to support teachers.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Associate's Degree or 48 college credits or equivalent
• Ability to pass a formal assessment (WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training)
• Completion of the NC DOL Apprenticeship Program
• Completion of the NC ATA Professional Development Plan

Responsibilities

• Assist children individually or in small groups to master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips.
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
• Discuss duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
• Observe students' performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
