Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a K-3 Teacher Assistant to support teachers in delivering standards-based instruction in elementary classrooms in Charlotte, NC. The role involves working with individuals or small groups to reinforce concepts and assist with instructional activities, while helping maintain a positive, safe learning environment.

The TA will supervise students in various school settings, enforce policies, and coordinate with teachers to maximize instructional time.

Qualifications

Minimum: Associate's Degree or 48 college credits, or pass Workkeys assessment.
Alternative: NC DOL Apprenticeship or NC ATA PD plan completion.
Desirable: Education-focused degree and 2+ years experience with elementary students.

Responsibilities

Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips.
Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
Coordinate duties with classroom teachers to support instructional efforts.
Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries.
Observe students' performance and record progress data.
