Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is seeking a K-3 Teacher Assistant to support teachers in delivering instruction and managing the classroom environment. The TA will work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce concepts and monitor progress, under supervision of a teacher or principal.

The role includes supervising students, enforcing school policies, coordinating with teachers, and performing clerical tasks to support instructional programs and materials.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's Degree or 48 credit hours or ability to pass a WorkKeys assessment or complete NC DOL Apprenticeship Program or NC ATA PD Plan.
• Desirable: Associate's Degree with a concentration in Education.
• Desirable: 2+ years working with elementary age children.

Responsibilities

• Assist children individually or in small groups to help master assignments and reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in various school settings (classrooms, halls, cafeterias, yards, gymnasiums, field trips).
• Enforce school policies and rules governing students.
• Coordinate instructional efforts with classroom teachers.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damages.
• Observe students' performance and record data to assess progress.
