Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a dedicated K-3 Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction under the supervision of a teacher or principal. The TA will reinforce concepts, monitor progress, and assist with instructional materials and technology to help students reach learning goals.

Responsibilities include small-group or one-on-one tutoring, supervising students in various settings, following district policies, coordinating with teachers, and maintaining safe use of equipment

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher required, or ability to pass WorkKeys with 96 hours of in-service training.
• Alternative qualifications include NC DOL Apprenticeship Program or NC ATA Professional Development Plan.
• Desirable: Associate's Degree with an Education concentration; 2+ years working with elementary age children.

Responsibilities

• Assists children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips.
• Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
• Discusses assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
• Observes students' performance and records relevant data to assess progress.
