Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a K-3 teacher assistant to support classroom instruction under the supervision of a teacher or principal. The TA helps reinforce learning, monitors student progress, and assists with technology and materials to help students succeed.

Responsibilities include small-group tutoring, supervising students in various areas, enforcing rules, coordinating duties with teachers, and recording progress data to track achievement.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements: Associate's Degree or two years of higher education (48 credit hours) or ability to pass a formal assessment (Workkeys and 96 hours of in-service training) or completion of NC programs.

Responsibilities

• Assists children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, schoolyards, gymnasiums, or on field trips.
• Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
• Discusses duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
• Observes students' performance and records data to assess progress.

Education
