Job summary

Greater Albany Public Schools seeks a Sign Language Interpreter to support deaf and hard of hearing students (K–21) at Calapooia Middle School. The role performs simultaneous interpretation between spoken English and sign language in classrooms and during school events.

Working with teachers, you will provide re-teaching, tutoring and academic assistance under the direction of the teacher of the deaf or classroom teacher.

Qualifications

• Two years of college (72 credits) or an associate degree or higher.
• Pass the Highly Qualified exam (if applicable).
• Ability to interpret in classroom and school activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform simultaneous interpretation between spoken language and sign language in classrooms and during school events.
• Provide re-teaching/tutoring and other academic and classroom support as directed.
• Provide academic assistance under the direction of the teacher of the deaf and/or the classroom teacher.
