Job summary

Three Oaks Elementary School is seeking a qualified sign language interpreter to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students across grades K–12 within the school system. The interpreter will provide accurate communication during instructional time, IEP meetings, and for various school activities.

Responsibilities include interpreting for parent conferences, assemblies, and field trips, as well as collaborating with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required and passing EIPA Written Test.
• Minimum Level 3.5 on EIPA Performance Test or equivalent state/national credential.
• Credentials recognized by Virginia Dept. for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as equivalent to/above VQAS Level III.

Responsibilities

• Interpret all content for deaf or hard-of-hearing students in K–12 as needed by IEPs.
• Interpret for IEP meetings, parent conferences, and Deaf staff.
• Interpret other school activities: assemblies, performances, announcements, field trips.
• Interpret after-school and weekend activities as assigned.
• Interpret interactions with administrators, guidance counselors, and staff.
