Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks certified sign language interpreters to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students from kindergarten through 12th grade in classrooms and related activities within the school system.

Interpreters will provide accurate communication during lessons, IEP meetings, parent conferences, and school events, upholding the RID Code of Professional Conduct and collaborating with classroom staff.

Responsibilities

• Interpret all content and subject areas for deaf or hard-of-hearing students, K–12, as deemed necessary by the IEP.
• Interpret for IEP meetings, parent conferences and Deaf staff members (ASL teacher and assistants).
• Interpret other activities during the school day to include assemblies, theatrical performances, announcements, musicals.
