Job summary

The Beaufort County School District is seeking an interpreter to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students across classrooms and activities. You will interpret spoken and signed messages, participate in team meetings, and assist with IEP-related duties throughout the school day.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, fluency in English and Sign Language, and commitment to professional standards. Preference given to those with ITP, EIPA, or national certifications, and related experience.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma minimum.
• Preferred: BA/BS and interpreter training program (ITP).
• Preferred: National certification or EIPA level 4.0+.
• Must have fluency in English and Sign Language.
• Must adhere to professional interpreters conduct codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services for deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff.
• Participate in educational team meetings.
• Interpret for field trips, IEP meetings, and other school-day activities.
• Prepare by familiarizing with environments and vocabulary.
• Maintain current knowledge on language expansions and trends.
• Attend in-service activities and pursue interpreting qualifications.
