Qualifications

• Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III or Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) 3.5+ with passing EIPA written test.
• National RID certification (excluding Cued Speech) recognized by VDDHH.
• For Cued Speech, VQAS Level III or TE C Unit Transliteration certificate or equivalent; three years to reach required qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Act as the communication facilitator between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and staff and peers.
• Interpret/transliterate classroom discussions, lectures, and school events.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.
• Pursue ongoing professional development through workshops and readings.
