Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing in the Virginia Beach area is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, on-site K-12 assignment, providing 1:1 interpretation for an elementary student throughout the day.

You will collaborate with teachers and support staff to enable participation and learning, with scheduling flexibility to cover where needed and contribute to a welcoming school community.

Qualifications

• VQAS Level III is required.
• EIPA score of 3.5 preferred; scores above 3.0 or QAS 3+ considered for interview.

Responsibilities

Step into an impactful contract opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic K-12 educational setting. Located in the vibrant Virginia Beach area, this full-time assignment offers the chance to work directly with elementary-aged children, providing 1:1 interpretation services. Youll collaborate with other professionals and help facilitate communication, learning, and social interaction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

This role is strictly onsite, with no virtual or hybrid options. Flexible deployment across school locations may be required if your assigned student is absent, allowing you to support where youre most needed each day.

Key Qualifications:

• Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III required
• Strong preference for Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5; candidates with a score above 3.0, or QAS score of 3 or better will also be considered for an interview
• Demonstrated experience working with elementary students in an educational environment preferred
• Comfortable using Visaphonics is a plus, but not required
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
