Job summary

Tuscaloosa County School System is seeking a Computer Technician to support school tech operations, including maintenance of computers and related devices, software, and network systems. You will assist with VoIP, imaging, and instructional technology under the Information Technology Department.

The role requires hands-on IT experience, strong communication, and the ability to work with faculty in a fast-paced environment. On-site position with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year minimum IT or related experience; 3 years preferred.
• Experience with Windows and Mac OS X.
• Experience diagnosing hardware, printer, and software problems.
• Familiarity with basic network troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS, IPs).
• Prefer candidates with Microsoft 365, PowerShell, and MDM experience.

Responsibilities

• Process and update IT service requests in a timely manner.
• Diagnose hardware and software issues on Windows and Apple devices.
• Install and configure IT equipment (printers, PCs, iMacs, iPads).
• Install software on Windows and Apple computers.
• Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators.
• Utilize MDM, imaging, and deployment tools for IT systems.
• Perform repairs, upgrades, and routine maintenance per IT guidelines.
• Rack and connect network equipment and cables.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and management.
• Attend training and stay current with K-12 education technology trends.
