Responsibilities

Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball Coach

North Middlesex Regional High School

North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a qualified, motivated, and student-centered candidate for the position of Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball Coach.

The JV Boys Volleyball Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Varsity Coach and Athletic Department to provide a positive, competitive, and development-focused experience for student-athletes. The JV program serves as an important developmental component of the overall North Middlesex Boys Volleyball Program, with an emphasis on developing fundamental skills and preparing student-athletes for future varsity competition.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct organized, purposeful practices focused on individual skill development, team concepts, conditioning, and match preparation.
• Develop student-athletes with the goal of preparing them for future varsity competition.
• Implement the philosophy, terminology, systems, expectations, and developmental priorities established by the Head Varsity Coach.
• Teach and reinforce fundamental volleyball skills, including serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking, defensive positioning, and communication.
• Introduce and develop offensive, defensive, serve-receive, transition, and rotational systems appropriate for the JV level.
• Work collaboratively with the varsity coaching staff regarding player development, roster movement, and overall program needs.
• Provide instruction and constructive feedback to student-athletes with varying levels of volleyball experience.
• Coach and supervise all assigned practices, matches, and team activities.
• Establish clear expectations for effort, accountability, attendance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and behavior.
• Create an environment that welcomes experienced players while providing opportunities for athletes who may be new to competitive volleyball.
• Promote academic responsibility and positive representation of North Middlesex.
• Maintain appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including locker rooms and athletic facilities.
• Communicate professionally with student-athletes, families, coaches, administrators, officials, and opposing programs.
• Follow and reinforce the Athletic Department's communication protocol.
• Prioritize student-athlete health and safety and follow all applicable emergency, concussion, and return-to-play procedures.
• Assist with equipment, uniforms, volleyballs, nets, facility setup and breakdown, inventory, and other operational responsibilities.
• Attend required practices, contests, coaching staff meetings, Athletic Department meetings, and other program activities.
• Work collaboratively with coaches at all levels to promote consistency and development throughout the boys volleyball program.
• Follow all North Middlesex Regional School District, Athletic Department, Mid-Wach League, and MIAA policies, rules, and procedures.
• Perform additional program-related duties as assigned by the Head Varsity Coach or Director of Athletics.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Previous volleyball playing and/or coaching experience.
• Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, rules, rotations, strategies, and player development.
• Previous high school or competitive volleyball coaching experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively teach and develop student-athletes with varying levels of experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within the overall boys volleyball coaching staff.
• Commitment to creating a positive, competitive, inclusive, and development-focused environment.
• Commitment to growing participation and retaining student-athletes within the boys volleyball program.
• Commitment to student-athlete academic achievement, character development, sportsmanship, and overall well-being.
• Willingness to support a program-first philosophy and the overall goals of North Middlesex Boys Volleyball.
• Completion of all required district and MIAA coaching certifications prior to participation.

The successful candidate will understand that the JV level is a critical developmental component of the North Middlesex Boys Volleyball Program. The coach will prioritize fundamental skill development, individual growth, team development, accountability, and preparation for future varsity opportunities while supporting the philosophy and direction established by the Head Varsity Coach.
