Job summary

Travelers is looking for a Software Engineer I to join our Technology team in Hartford, CT. You will complete intermediate end-to-end engineering tasks, from design and development to testing, debugging, and health monitoring, aligned with user specifications. Authorization to work in the U.S.

is required; visa sponsorship is not provided. The ideal candidate will have three years of programming experience and proficiency in TypeScript, AWS or Azure, and Node, with C# and API development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
• 3 years of programming/development experience.
• Experience with Typescript, AWS or Azure and Node.
• Experience with C#, API development and AI (Claude code).
• Delivery skills to decompose work and deliver in small batches.
• Strong domain expertise and ability to understand technical concepts.
• Proven problem solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Intermediate leadership with self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions for assignments of intermediate complexity.
• Participate with team to analyze, resolve defects and incidents of intermediate complexity.
• Work within guidelines to tackle well-scoped problems independently.
• Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
