Job summary

AECOM is seeking Entry Level Transportation Engineers to be based in Chicago, Illinois. This position is expected to begin in May 2027.

The responsibilities include building analytic and design skills, conducting engineering design under supervision, and creating designs, calculations, and working drawings. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with familiarity in MicroStation preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required/essential.
• Engineer-in-Training (FE) registration or ability to obtain within 6 months is preferred.
• Experience in Civil Engineering design is preferred.
• Experience with highway design elements (alignments, geometry, pavement, traffic control) is desirable.
• Familiarity with MicroStation is desirable; Geopak is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written & spoken) with peers; team orientation.

Responsibilities

• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and final working drawings under supervision.
• Follows internal quality control processes.
• Collects and analyzes data under supervision.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work within budget and schedule under supervision.
