Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Substation Engineer to support design deliverables for high-voltage substations from 13kV to 765kV under licensed P.E. supervision.

You will work with project teams through design and construction, adapting plans to budget, design factors, or client needs, and contribute to calculations, sketches, and reports. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of substation projects from conceptual phase through completion.
• Prepare substation design packages including arrangement, protection, grounding, and lighting analyses.
• Develop substation calculations such as insulation, voltages, conductor sizing, and conduit fill.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, equipment specs, BOMs and other deliverables.
• Apply IEEE, NESC, and industry standards; support field inspections of substations.
• Research and compile project data; support client presentations and status reports.
• Identify and help resolve project issues; adhere to project schedule and QA/QC guidelines.
