Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to join our Valhalla, NY office, supporting design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects in both public and private sectors.

You will assist with data collection, site analysis, and basic professional structural engineering tasks, using 2D/3D drawings and various software, while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0–1 year post-education experience.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with design/build processes and related laws/codes.
• Clear communication for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with technical writing and standard office software.
• Experience with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS, and geotechnical data.
• Support basic professional structural engineering work related to research, inspections, and conformance with rules and permits.
• Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements.
• Verify site characteristics and assist in securing structural soundness from loads and environmental pressures.
• Generate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and site logs.
• Follow safety guidelines and site procedures and complete assigned training.
• Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
• Perform additional tasks as needed to meet project needs.
