Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join the J42 Urology Ward team. This role requires strong leadership and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

You will work closely with the Ward Leader to support staff development, promote patient safety, and enhance the overall patient experience across shifts. The successful candidate will deputise for the Ward Leader when necessary.

Qualifications

• Band 5 with urology experience or equivalent, ready to take on a Sister/Charge Nurse role.

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join the J42 Urology Ward team. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic senior nurse who is adaptable, forward-thinking, and committed to leading and embracing change.

The role involves working closely with the Ward Leader to enhance patient safety, care quality, and overall experience, while also supporting and developing staff at all levels. This includes encouraging, guiding, and facilitating the ongoing development of clinical skills, knowledge, and professional experience.

What You Will Bring To The Role

• Support the Ward Leader in providing effective leadership to the clinical team.
• Motivate, support, and inspire staff to deliver efficient, safe, high-quality patient care.
• Promote and deliver a consistently positive patient experience.
• Encourage the development of effective teamwork and strong collaboration across teams.
• Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventative measures, mitigation strategies, or contingency plans as required.
• Assist with the line management of the nursing team, including monitoring individual and team performance and attendance.
• Support the effective deployment of staff in line with patient flow to ensure safe and efficient care delivery.
• Participate in and support local and trust-wide recruitment activities.
• Assist in managing the appropriate use of bank and agency staff.
• Support the Ward Leader in investigating and responding to accidents, complaints, incidents, and other significant events.
• Contribute to the delivery of a safe, high-quality, and cost-effective service within agreed budgets.
• Identify, raise, and respond appropriately to concerns related to risk, safety, malpractice, or wrongdoing, in line with the LTHT whistleblowing policy and procedures.
• Deputise for the Ward Leader in their absence, as required.
