Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Ward Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe ward environment and support patient care on Ward 6 (Ward 32 renal ward). You will work as part of a friendly, multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient experiences.

The role is 15 hours per week, with duties including stock management, equipment decontamination, and assistance to nursing staff. DBS check and references are required.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 in appropriate subject (or on pathway) or equivalent qualification / experience.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Good organisational skills.
Basic IT skills.
Ability to work effectively under direct supervision, as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Be an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team assisting the Ward / Department to maintain a safe, clean and comfortable environment for the patients, their families and visitors.
Report any concerns regarding the patient’s condition to the qualified nurse.
Maintain patient’s privacy and dignity at all times.
Report to the Nurse in Charge any issues that may prevent cleaning or compromise the safety of the environment.
Actively contribute to the provision of nutrition of the patients on the Ward / Department.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Ward 6 as a Ward Housekeeper. Ward 32 is a 24 bedded renal ward, we are a very friendly approachable team who aim to provide the highest quality care for our patients. The housekeeper role is pivotal in ensuring high quality patient experience whilst keeping the ward clean and safe for patients, their families and visitors.

Main duties of the job

Maintain cleanliness throughout the ward on a daily basis - ensuring all bed space areas are free from clutter.
Stocking up and ordering of supplies used within the ward using a computer ordering system.
Decontaminating of all equipment used within the ward.
General Housekeeping duties.
Nutritional support to assist the nursing staff - daily ordering of kitchen stock.
