Job summary

Sparus Holdings in New Jersey is looking for a Level 1 P&C Relay Technician to assist with installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control relays in substations and power systems. Candidates should have a HS diploma; an associate degree or military experience is preferred and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles, AC/DC circuits, and power systems.
  • Experience with common electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters) is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with installation, wiring, and commissioning of P&C relays and related equipment.
  • Perform basic functional checks and verification of relay settings under direct supervision.
  • Aid in routine maintenance activities, including visual inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs of P&C equipment.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for relay-related issues, including identifying faulty components and verifying wiring integrity.
  • Collect and record test data accurately and meticulously.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay elementary diagrams.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., NERC, IEEE).
  • Maintain tools and test equipment in good working condition.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status and technical issues.
