Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Transmission Assistant Civil Engineer for our Syracuse, NY office. The role involves assisting with overhead transmission line design, data analysis, field surveys, and documentation to support projects from 69kV to 765kV.

You will contribute to engineering calculations, learn core overhead line principles, and work under supervision to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards. Travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 0–1 year of relevant post-education experience.
• Engineer in Training Certification preferred.
• Interest in Overhead Transmission Line Engineering and professional development.
• Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.
• Good interpersonal and professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites, surveys, GIS data, and maps for project development, design and construction.
• Contribute to overhead transmission line design, research, and inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
• Perform basic engineering calculations using concepts from structural analysis, concrete/steel design, soil mechanics, and surveying.
• Generate accurate documentation using drawings and field logs.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and project-specific procedures.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and support project execution.
• Collaborate with team members to meet client objectives and deadlines.]
• Generate concise documentation and support project deliverables.
• Assist with site verifications and addressing design and construction issues.
