Job summary

Canonical is hiring a Junior developer for the Observability team to build a cloud-native monitoring stack using open-source tools on Kubernetes and related platforms. You will ship features, improve performance, and deliver a polished user experience for Day 1 and Day 2 operations.

You should bring a solid Python background, some Go knowledge, and a passion for open source, Linux, and distributed systems. This role is remote across EMEA and the Americas, with travel to events as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM or equivalent.
Proven track record as a Python developer, preferably with open source.
Working knowledge of Go.
Interest/experience with two or more: Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, snap, distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
Write, test and document high quality code to create new features.
Debug issues and interact with a vibrant community.
Review code produced by other engineers.
Attend conferences to represent Canonical and the Charmed Observability Stack.
Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events.
