Job summary

Canonical is seeking an Observability Engineering Manager to lead the development of distributed tracing and service mesh within the Observability group. The role emphasizes coding leadership, architecture reviews, and team growth, with a focus on a Kubernetes-centric observability stack.

You will manage a distributed team across EMEA or Americas, participate in strategy, and collaborate with managers, product teams, and architects to deliver strategic milestones.

Qualifications

• Proven software delivery experience, including open source work.
• Professional English communication, both written and spoken.
• Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred) and open source ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Manage a distributed team of engineers and its observability portfolio.
• Lead team processes to achieve objectives and unblock work.
• Review code and conduct one-on-one meetings with team members.
• Represent Canonical at conferences and engage with the community.
