Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a motivated Controls Engineer (Junior–Mid Level) in Miami to design, implement, troubleshoot, and improve automated systems on the shop floor. The role requires hands-on experience with PLCs, sensors, and electromechanical equipment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering and operations to deploy scalable control solutions, while supporting commissioning and ongoing improvements on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 1–5 years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or related engineering discipline.
• Practical experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix, Siemens S7/TIA Portal, or similar).
• Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with sensors, pneumatics, VFDs, and electromechanical systems.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, programming, testing, and deployment of PLC based control systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot ladder logic, function block, structured text, and HMI applications.
• Support integration of control systems with mechanical, electrical, and IT systems.
• Perform hands on installation, wiring, and troubleshooting of sensors, VFDs, and control panels.
• Support commissioning and startup of new automation equipment or system upgrades.
• Provide on site support to diagnose and resolve equipment failures.
• Analyze root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, vendors, and integrators on project execution.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and system evaluations.
• Assist in developing system drawings, documentation, and training materials.
• Identify opportunities for control system enhancements to improve safety, performance, and efficiency.
• Implement small-scale automation solutions to remove manual effort and reduce downtime.
